Friday Feb 28th, Sean will be competing for a week at the World Youth/Junior Biathlon Championships in Presque Isle, Maine. You can see the whole schedule of events at this website.
Here is a message of good luck to Sean from all of the Milers! So proud of all of his accomplishments. Below is photo of Sean from the Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Put this one on your calendar. Walk or run. However you are able to get yourself to the Dowlings. Gary Howard is making a very special guest appearance all the way from Lubec, ME. He is one of the all time Miler originals and hosted the breakfast runs for years. Bring a dish to share and dust off your Miler stories…this is one not to miss. Run/walk begins at 9am, followed by our favorite sport….EATING. Cheers to all, Christie
OK you ground hogs….time to come out!! This Sunday is a much anticipated Miler gathering at the Dowlings, 9am. We will have 2 special couples traveling from far and wide to join us. Dave & Nancy Drach and Tony & Suzanne Federer. Bring your running or walking shoes, a dish to share, and fun will be had by all. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday. Cheers, Christie
Kick off the first Sunday of 2014!! Bring a dish to share and your running shoes. Walkers welcome. The Dowlings continue to grace us by providing us with their home. Be there at 9am. Distances vary depending on the individual or group. We look forward to seeing you. Happy New Year.
Longtime Miler, Jim Berry, passed away today at the Mineral Springs Nursing Home in North Conway. For those of you who never got the chance to enjoy time with Jim, he was one of the most gracious and polite people you could ever meet. Always had a great smile, running races or out on Passaconaway Road on training runs. He was always helping out at Miler races until his health faded.
One of the Milers club founders, Steve Dowling, shared this story of when he went to see Jim last week: ”His last words to me were, ‘How did you do on Mount Washington? and “Say hi to Cathy for me’ ”
The picture to the right is of Jim from 1991 at the Milers Turkey Raffle Relay. Jim is the one on the right.
The annual Miler Christmas extravaganza is upon us. Bring a gift ($5-$10 value), a side dish, and your A game. Please make a note of the time correction. We will begin at noon from the Dowlings (not 11am as originally posted) We run first to justify the enormous quantity of food to be consumed!! Happy Holidays to all. We look forward to seeing you on the 21st at noon!!
We’re using an alternate course but I ran it this morning in road shoes and it’s not slick, no ice. There is a covering of snow and a couple of water sections to run around but otherwise, awesome conditions.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone and I hope to see you at Purity Springs this morning! Race Reg is 7:30-8:30 at main lodge at King Pine, race starts at 9:00.
The Thanksgiving 5K tomorrow at King Pine will happen even with the current weather. We will be marking an alternate course to get it on grass trails instead of dirt road to keep the footing better in case of icing but the race will happen. Hope to see you there! There is a good chance the new course will not be exactly 5K certified, but we appreciate your openness.
