The Wilderness Trail is one of the most popular hiking trails in the White Mountains. This trail started out as an old logging railroad bed. You can still see the railroad ties today, which makes for some tricky footing while running. This trail is the central artery so to speak for the Pemigewasset Wilderness. From it you can reach the Franconia Ridge via the Osseo Trail, the Bonds via the Bondcliff Trail and all the way out to Zealand via the Thoreau Falls Trail. The trail is pretty flat being close to the river and the fact that it was an old railroad bed helps. The trail enters the Pemigewasset Wilderness after crossing  Franconia Brook. Please use care in this area and stay on the trail.

Directions: Take the Kanc to Lincoln from Conway. The Lincoln Woods Trailhead is on the right about 5 miles from Lincoln
